Today we had an absolute outpouring of donation items coming in from library friends and supporters!  Several new pieces of jewelry have come in, along with two lovely handbags, three pieces of handmade pottery, a dozen or so truly fantastic gift certificates and gift cards, and two gorgeous pieces of counted cross stitch artwork!  It has been a thrill for us, the library staff, to handle and photograph these wonderful donations!  Stay tuned to the Derby Day webpages for further updates — we’re only just getting started!!

We’ve added several jewelry items today with much more waiting to be photographed and uploaded.  make sure you take a look!  Just a teaser, but look for the Tiffany gold and diamond necklace that will be added in the next few days!

We’re going to do the photos of items to bid on a little differently this year.  We’re going to utilize the online photo sharing website “Flickr.”  We’ll be linking the item descriptions to the photos which will be uploaded to Flickr.  Derby Day website visitors will be able to look at the items by clicking the link on the Auction Items page or by going to the library Derby Day Flickr page to see all the photos at once.   We’ll be adding more item photographs tomorrow (Thursday, 4/9/08).

I am happy to report that all of the location arrangements have been confirmed at Nottingham Village Retirement Center for the Great Room in the East Wing.  This will be the 13th year we have held the Derby at Nottingham Village.  If you haven’t been to Derby Day before you don’t know what you’re missing!  The Great Room is a lovely room with roman columns, high ceilings, and floor to ceiling windows galore!  The food service group at Nottingham Village caters the event for us.  The hors d’ouevres from past years have included mini quiches, mini cheesecakes, petit fours, ham and cheese puffs, scallops wrapped in bacon, and other delectables.  There is a wide selection of beverages as well.  Don’t miss it!

Hello to the Priestley-Forsyth Memorial Library supporters!  Thanks for visiting our Derby Day webpages and exploring the various links.  This blog will serve as a daily (or semi-daily depending on how busy we are!) newscast of what’s going on with the organizing and planning of the upcoming derby.

Items donated from the range of businesses, companies, sports teams, and individuals are beginning to roll in.  Library staff and volunteers are working as quickly as possible to add the fantastic things we’ve been getting to the list of items webpage so folks out there in Norry and beyond can see all of the things they will not want to miss out on bidding for at the Derby on May 3rd at 4pm.

Don’t hesitate to add your comments to the blog.  Let us know what you think of what we’ve done so far!  We think this year’s Derby is going to be one of the best yet for the wonderful people of our community.
